Vacant City Council Seat: HONEYVILLE CITY COUNCIL VACANCY   Due to Councilmember Wilde being elected to a County position he can no longer serve on the Honeyville City Council.  We are thankful for his service and wish him luck in his new position.  However, this means that Honeyville City is now looking to fill a vacant City Council Seat.  The term will begin January 1, 2025 and end December 31, 2025. If the individual would like to remain on the Council for the remaining 2 years of the term they will need to participate in the 2025 municipal election. The City Council member pledges upon appointment, to represent the overall good of the public and not that of an exclusive group or interest.  The City Council meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., which council members are expected to attend. They are also expected to periodically attend and participate in City programs and activities, as well as committees with outside organization. City Council members must be a United States Citizen, a Registered Voter of Honeyville and be a Honeyville resident for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the appointment. Honeyville City Municipal General Election

Pursuant to Utah Code 10-3-301, Honeyville City hereby gives notice the following municipal offices will be voted on in the 2023 Municipal Election:

  • Mayor (2-year term)
  • Council Member (2-year term)
  • Council Member (4-year term)
  • Council Member (4-year term)
  • Council Member (4-year term)

Terms are expiring for: Bruce Nelson (Mayor), Ryan Adams (Councilmember), Kory Wilde (Councilmember), Trevor Gardner (Councilmember) and Dale Millsap (Councilmember).

A person seeking to become a candidate for municipal office shall file a declaration of candidacy, in person with the city recorder at the Honeyville City Offices, 2635 W. 6980 N. Honeyville UT, during the office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and not later than the close of those office hours, between June 1 and June 7, 2023 (excluding Saturday and Sunday).

An individual may designate an agent to file a declaration of candidacy with the city recorder if: (i) the individual is located outside of the state during the entire filing period; (ii) the designated agent appears in person before the city recorder; (iii) the individual communicates with the city recorder using an electronic device that allows the individual and city recorder to see and hear each other; and (iv) the individual provides the city recorder with an email address to which the city recorder may send the individual the candidate information.

Any resident of a municipality may nominate a candidate for a municipal office by: (i) filing a nomination petition with the city recorder at the Honeyville City Offices, 2635 W. 6980 N. Honeyville UT, during the office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and not later than the close of those office hours, between June 1 and June 7, 2023.

Pursuant to Utah Code 20A-9-203 qualifications for a municipal candidate are as follows:

  • Must be a registered voter in the municipality in which the individual is elected.
  • Must have resided within the municipality for which the candidate is seeking office for the 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election.
  • Must maintain a principal place of residency within the municipality, and within the district that the elected officer represents, during the officer’s term of office.
  • If the individual resides in a territory which was annexed into the municipality the 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election.
  • May not be convicted of a felony.
