Honeyville City Drought Information

July 20, 2021

Dear Honeyville Citizens,

As most of you are aware the state of Utah is experiencing one of the worst droughts on record and no one can predict how long these conditions will last.

Currently, both of Honeyville City’s Wells are healthy.  However, our 8 springs combined are flowing at a rate of 250 gallons per minute, which is EXTREMELY low for this time of year.  We feel fairly confident our water supply will be sufficient to carry us through this year.  However, we have no way of knowing what kind of moisture we will receive this winter and if we will be able to replenish our water supply.

Keeping this in mind the City Council is encouraging ALL citizens to

CONSERVE WATER any way possible.

HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS ON HOW YOU CAN HELP CONSERVE WATER:

§  Water Less Often and for Shorter Periods of Time.

(The State is asking that we only water 2x a week)

§  Water during the Cooler Hours of the Day. (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.)

§  Allow your Lawn to Grow Taller, setting lawn mower blades to 3 – 4″ will shade the roots and reduce evaporation.

§  Don’t Water when it is Windy.

§  Fix Water Leaks.

§  Run Full Loads (dishwashers & washing machines)

§  Reduce Shower Times.
